How We Chose Our Wedding Dresses and Designers

A key element when setting up a wedding boutique is the range of outfits and wedding dresses as well as the designers you choose. There are so many brands out there and even more designs.

When researching which designers I wanted to stock, I had a list of criteria that I ranked them all by. Three of those criteria were:

  • Any alternatives to dresses, jumpsuits for example

  • Any non-white dresses

  • Showcase a diverse range of models

That final point was the biggest factor to me. Having representation is so important; when you see a person modelling an outfit that looks like you, it is much easier to picture yourself in the clothes they wear.

People come in all shapes and size and if a designer has a wide range of models this typically also means their size range will also be far more inclusive.

I want to combat the idea that there is one model standard of beauty and to do that I need to support and stock designers that share the same message and mentality.
